Support & Awareness Video Call
Support & Awareness Video Call
Living with a chronic illness is an every day battle. I live in chronic pain daily. I have gastroparesis. I was undiagnosed 4 years. I choose not to take medication because of the side effects. Honestly, I felt sicker taking medication so I decided to take an alternative method and look into holistic medicine. Breathwork, Yoga, & Essential Oils have been very beneficial to me. I understand how isolating it can be having an invisible even if you’re married. Sometimes it helps to talk to someone who is going through the same experience. Also, being a spouse of a person with a chronic illness is difficult as well. There are things my husband is responsible for now he wasn’t before. There are a lot of lifestyle changes that have occurred to help us navigate my illness such as fitness and making sure we set aside time to rest. I see you. If you need support navigating chronic illness, I am here. I see you. I hear you. I am you.
Transitioning is life changing not only for the person, but also their spouse/partner and family. Some of our family was not supportive in the beginning of Shawn’s transition. Transitioning is a process. You have to be open minded and have an open heart so that you are receptive to what you are hearing/seeing. There were questions I had as a trans spouse but I did not know who to ask. There isn’t a lot of representation for transgender partnerships let alone marriages. When I did find a couple it was usually after they’ve gone through all the hardships and prefer not to talk about it or simply wasn’t being transparent enough. We wanted to create a safe space where those seeking support could ask questions about our journey in hopes their experience coming out and navigating year 1 is not as traumatic as it was for us. It took over a year of healing and understanding that some people will never think beyond their own understanding. At this point, we’ve learned to go where the love is and implement boundaries. If you are transgender, a trans spouse, LGBTQ parent, seeking/offering support, or seeking awareness, join us for a 30 minute private video call.
